Little clams play big part in keeping seagrass ecosystems healthy, new study finds

Grazing snails rule the waves: says marine study

  We know that without grazing animals such as urchins and fishes such as tangs, reefs are prone to being overgrown by marine algae, but the role of grazing snails has often been underestimated, until now. The study, by Alistair Poore of the UNSW Evolution & Ecology Research Centre, (working with an international team of 10 researchers), published in the journal Ecology Letters, is the largest of its kind ever undertaken into the ecological impacts of marine grazing animals.… More:
