Question Combining Carbon & Phosphate Media
  #1

Is it possible to combine Rowaphos Phosphate media and Rowaphos Carbon in the same reactor? Right now I'm using Pura complete in my reactor but I want to try the Rowaphos product. LMK

Can be done depending on the reactor. Bulk Reef Supply has a single reactor that can be used with 2 different media.

possible yes....recommended no. the rowaphos requires a much slower flow to be effective and you want a higher flow thru the carbon, also as carbon gets used up it compacts and if used in the same reactor it would just settle on the rowaphos and stop it from tumbling.

What do you guys think about Pura Complete? Any good?
I have limited space so I need a good all in one nutrient removal media.

if you are going to use a single reactor, i would place a sponge in between the 2 medias to keep them separated

In addition, your carbon will need to be changed way sooner than your gfo. Get two reactors....

You don't want to do this. You need a specific flow rate through the PFO.

i would use the reactor for the gfo only n mesh bag the carbon in a high flow area. that way the carbon can be remove n change easily.
