So I picked up a mandarin a few weeks ago and It seems to be very picky...I've been hoping it starts eating frozen or pellets but no luck yet. I've been adding tigger pods in the tank as well as arctipods and I suppose it's eating bc it hasn't died yet but I can never really tell. I would appreciate some help designing a feeding station for the mandarin to make sure it stays that way lol.

Thanks

If it were not for that feeder I would not be able to keep spawning bluestripe pipefish, spawning mandarins and almost spawning ruby red dragonettes along with shrimpfish, red scooter bleenie and dragon faced pipefish. Here is a video.

Here is a video of a larger automatic hatchery/feeder

What does an almost spawning ruby red dragonette look like? Are you getting some fishy porn?

Paul you should make that feeding box into a sunken treasure chest to match your bottles in the tank.

PaulB's feeder is a nice DIY feeder. I tried to make something similar but didn't get it quite right. I could never get the brine shrimps to go to the bottom unless I used the Julian sprung pipette to force them into the dish. I eventually started using spirulina brine, mysis, and pellets.
The hermit crabs and shrimps hog the dish and liked the pellets more. The ruby reds eventually started chasing down and eating pellets from the water column. The green mandarin rarely goes after a pellet.

This is what almost spawning Ruby red dragonettes looks like. Please note, view with caution, this could be considered fishy porn. The video quality isn't too great because of the blue light. They only perform when the blues are on and the lights are about to go off.
