I'm thinking about possibly getting another fish, but I'm looking for one that will be an avid swimmer. Currently I have:

2 small green clown gobies
3 med sized Banggai Cardinals
2 small Oc. Percs
1 Lawnmower Blenny

For corals I really like the LPS so they need to be pretty safe with these. I have a 65gal with about 70lbs of rock. If you want to see the layout for swimming you can check out my landscape at http://www.mcb.ucdavis.edu/faculty-labs ... waterpics/

Are there any fish you would recommend, I've thought of getting a six line, but haven't yet because my tank is open on the top and need to put something on the back of the canopy to limit jumping area.

I was going to suggest a Fairy wrasse of some sort, but again, you need a cover. You're a little limited because of tank size, have you considered a Centropyge species? (I've had good luck w/Coral B's and Flamers.)

I have a Maroon gold stripe and a white strip clown that are always on the move. But if you put in a anemone, they will stay in it and get fat and lazy..lol

A few chromis might be nice.

I just got a blackcap basslet that is awesome, but is not exactly a mid-water swimmer.

I'll second the recommendation on the green chronis. We have a tank with usually around 25 of them at a time in the shop, and everyone loves them...always swimming in unison, and constantly in motion.

A nice pack of 5 or 7 would be nice.

Peace,

Chip

If you can deal with some being possibly mildly venomous fang blennies are really cool and stay in the water column darting around. I have a striped fang blenny - Meiacanthus grammistes and he's fun to watch. Take a look at this page on WWM for pics and description of them:

Possibly a pygmy angel Centropyge argii but these have been known to nip at corals and clams - usually not a real problem and a charming little fish.

How about some firefish gobies? about 3 should do it.

or maybe a hawkfish? My longnose is awesome. or You could try a couple anthias of some sort. Ventralis are my favorite.

I think you have enough fish as it is in a 65 gallon. Unless you have a large sump. If you had a leather coral dominant tank I'd say add one or two more.

I agree those clowns will grow and I definetly wouldn't add 5-7 chromis!

how about a tank raised orchid dottyback? One of my fave fish.

He wouldn't be out cruising, tends to stay in one area, but is so stunningly beautiful! A nice compliment to the other colors your fish have.

If you have a pair of banggai, you could trade the 3rd in for another fish and reduce your load (I've heard that once a pair is established, they can get real cranky with a 'third wheel'). The fish you've got are pretty small, so at least 3 chromis should be ok. That's what I have in my small tank and I wouldn't be without them - active, colorful and always out. Also, the chromis act like dither fish and encourage the 'rock dwellers' to come out and play. :D

i wouldn't recommend firefish gobies if you want to see them

i have three firefish that stay in hiding, the pair of perculas keeps them hiding even though the percs don't really chase or fight the firefish.

since you already have established clowns, i assume the same will happen, not that clowns are too mean, just that firefish are so timid

mine only come out a feeding time....shame b/c they have such nice coloration.

I know I'll need to get rid of one of the banggai but so far they only chase one around a little bit and no picking or injuries has occured. The loner normally hangs out with my two clowns near the hammer, once it was even underneath it and there isn't much space there.

The thought of 2 or 3 chromis is a possiblity, though my heart is still set on a sixline or some slightly bigger fish.

Firefish would be tough to add last. A friend just got a pair of orchid dottybacks. Very cool, and I think they would go great. You could always have my Centropyge argi if you wanted it. He's OK with all those corals.
