Anyone have any info on how to control red bubble algae? I had an outbreak quite a few months ago, I cleaned every rock and it stayed away for a long time. Now that my water quality is perfect, the best it's ever been, it came back with a vengeance. I do not want to take the reef apart again, but I want to control this stuff. any ideas would be appreciated.

Emarald crabs sometimes work thou they are hit or miss. Some urchins have been reported to eat the stuff. No fish that I know of will touch it.

thanks for the reply. Man this is discouraging. I might have to just live with it and harvest it out when it get's too much. Maybe it will go away on it's own. I hope!

Once in a while, you get a Zebrasoma desjardini (sailfin) that will eat bubble algae.

My sailfin absolutely loves the stuff, but they get pretty large and are not an option for smaller tanks.

Yeah I've heard about the red sea sailfin, but like you said, I'm limited on tang space. I'm just baffeled why it's making such a strong comeback after being almost non-existant with higher phos and nitrates. At undectable levels now in those departments and hello.....I'm clueless
