Putting together my ice cap 660 and had a few questions.

1.) Should I seal off the part in the 3 piece end cap where the wire enters?

2.) heard that I should lubricate the rubber seal that contacts the glass to prevent drying. Any suggestions to which type of lube?

3.) Should I mount the ballast inside my stand?

Any kind of advice on this subject is also appreciated. I would love nothing more thatn to do it right the first time. If you have any thing you wish you had done differently please tell me so I don't do it too.

Thanks much,

Matt

You don't need to seal where the wires go in, I used silicone di-electric compound to lube and seal the lip against the bulb..you can find it in auto stores, it's used to seal and lube spark plug wires to the spark plugs, so they don't seize to the boot, and water doesn't enter. and last, I mounted the ballasts under the stand to be out of the 'line of fire' if water dripped out of the plumbing. I mounted the outlet strip on the side, and the ballasts on the 'ceiling' of the stand in case water found it's way into the stand and filled the bottom.

Thanks flash!

Good answer. I didn't even think about the ceiling of the stand.
