Kind of looks like a sponge. The bigger issue is the aiptasia anemones and green hair algae. Do you have a plan to kill off the anemones?

ya I realize the anemone's are considered a pest. I don't have a reef tank tho and bought the rock just for them. Im probably a little crazy, but so far I like them and they haven't been a problem for me. so no plans to get rid of them at least not yet

At first I thought that might be the case, but than I saw what looks like or a zoanthid or a paly on a plug in the background.

I will never forget chatting with someone in a local fish store ~14 years ago. He was telling me about his reef tank with beautiful green flowing fields of grass and anemones happy as can be reproducing all over the place. Took me a few minutes standing there to realize he was talking about hair algae and aiptasia. He was seriously happy with his tank. To each their own. I prefer a bit more diversity and less limitations.
