In light of the upcoming Frag Swap and in an attempt to limit the spread of unwelcome hitchhikers on our corals, it may be a good idea to compile a list of the recommended products and procedures to be performed on all corals before adding them to our tanks.

So far...

----------------------------------
Reef Dip by Seachem
Purpose: Disinfectant
Use for: SPS, LPS, Soft Corals
ReefDip.jpg

Description: Reef Dip™ contains elemental iodine complexed to a protective slime coat for safely and gently disinfecting corals. It is effective against bacteria, fungus, and protozoans. It may be used prophylactically (without evidence of disease) or to remedy diseased specimens. It is safe to use with both stony and soft corals. It is also safe for anemones and polyps.

----------------------------------

Flatworm eXit by Salifert
Purpose: Flatworms (and Acro-Eating-Flatworms)
Use for: SPS, LPS, Soft Corals
SF5111.jpg

Description: Flatworm eXit itself is quite safe to fish and invertebrates. However, the body juice of flatworms can be toxic to some reef inhabitants when present in a too high concentration. This body juice is sometimes excreted when flatworms die.

----------------------------------

Pro-Coral Cure by Tropic Marin
Purpose: Parasites (Acro-Eating-Flatworms and Sea Spiders)
Use for: Acropora
PRO-CORAL-CURE.jpg

Description: In many aquariums, parasites and microbial diseases can appear on new corals especially Acropora corals that are weakened and stressed by transport. Due to the lack of natural enemies, these parasites and diseases propagate and spread quickly in the aquarium. Since they are almost invisible to the naked eye the parasites are only perceived when damage is already substantial.
Therefore it is recommended to preventively treat all newly purchased Acropora corals with PRO-CORAL CURE and to apply PRO-CORAL CURE to all corals which have been attacked by flatworms. Treatment is done by a bath of 10-15 minutes.
Besides flatworms PRO-CORAL CURE is also effective against parasitic sea spiders (Pantopoda) and microbial diseases.
Tropic Marin PRO-CORAL CURE is a highly effective iodine preparation against parasitic flatworms that can be found on corals, especially Acropora.

hi all, I won't be making it to the swap. Sorry. But I hope to help in set up and if someone is willing, I'm willing to donate the intercptor pills needed to create a "dip station" to help ensure healthy coral.

At the swap there is going to be a Pest Removal Station.

Doc, if you could give the interceptor pills we could sell them for you and use them for the swap.
