refugium lighting

i always had trouble growing chaeto until i decided to diy a led fixture with 12 white leds. I shined the light through the side panel of my sump and my chaeto grew from a small 5" ball to completely filling a 13"x12"x9" compartment in my sump in less than a month. My chaeto is a brighter green than most chaeto i've seen grown under normal bulbs.

What was the spectrum of the leds??

i used warm whites, i read somewhere that red leds are better, but i have not seen any solid proof of that

from what i see in the pics they are mounted like 18-24" above water level, i don't think a lot of people have that much space

+1 on the 6500K bulb. More yellow = more growth

That's the one I use but the LED fixture is much better. They carry small LED's on ebay in all configurations. mke sure if your get one there that its 110v and not 220

I'm thinking of going with LED spotlight on my refugium.
