You can reduce interferance by making sure that EVERYTHING is grounded ("earthed"). If that doesn't work, try moving your radio or your aquarium, or finally build a metal or metallic screen box around your ballast and connect this box to the ground ("earth"). Also you may try using "shielded" cables, this also helps.

I used to work at in an electronics lab and the entire room was made out of metal since we were making electronics for F-16 aircraft and didn't want ANY signals escaping! It was pretty cool to walk in there with a radio on and hear it go COMPLETELY blank as all the signals were stripped out!
