Had to share this picture I took this evening of my clown and his Anenome...

I got the Anenome a few weeks ago and hoped the clown would go in it. I put the anenome in the sand at one end of the tank, the clown ignored it and it did not fully expand. A week later I moved it to the other side of the tank and put it in the sand. The next morning I found that the the anenome had moved into the rock and expanded..the next day the clown took up residence and has not strayed from it for very long. At first I was concerned the anenome was not getting enough light but it stays expanded and eats well so I guess it knows its environmental requirements better than I do..

Very nice picture. One of my favorite sites as well in the animal kingdom. My clowns don't even look twice at my Rose BTA, of course that is because it is not a natural host for them. But still wish they would break form and dive in

what kind of anemone is that bpnc? and under what kind of lighting? it looks super healthy.

I think the Anenome is a Heteractis probably aurora..common names is Bubble Tip. I have him under 2 - URI 50/50 and 2 - URI Actinic VHO Lights.

Anemone looks like Heteractis crispa to me, better known in most parts as the Sebae anemone. Bubble tips (BTA) are more often then not used to describe E.quadricolor.

You anemone should darken up a little in the coming months. It looks healthy, but slightly bleached; this is normal after shipping. I think you're in good shape, especially now that the clown has adopted it.

Now watch your fingers! Tomato clowns are vicious

Excellent...I only have a Condylactus Gigantea , but it is almost 16inches across. I am looking into getting rid of it and buying a Sebae now!!!

Something about a white anemone has don't buy it written all over it. Is that a normal color (does it lack symbotic zooanthellae?)

Reefland - The Anenome eats well and the Clown brings him food. Tonight I broke up a Wardley's Algae disc and dropped it in the tank for hermit crabs (they go nuts for them)..the Clown grabbed a small piece and dropped it on the anenome...the anenome did not eat it but the crabs and yellow mimic tang did. I use a turkey baster and shoot brine shrimp plus and formula two at the anenome. He closes the inner tenacles over his mouth and when he them opens up all of it is gone. This weekend I am going to pickup some shrimp and feed him a small piece....not sure what else I should try feeding it..

dewman - any other thoughts on food..sounds like yours is doing great!

reefland - Since my other hobby is photography I am embarrased to say I did not take time to do a good white balance on the pitcture...the tips are actually a darker purple and it does have symbotic zooanthellae..least that is what I assume is a slight green tinge, not really white tenacles.

I've gone through two..and it wasn't for lack of feeding. They have a very poor longterm reputation for survival. good luck though.

You had two anemones? two anemones of this species? or two white anemones like this? Just want to clarify what it was that you tried two times.

Nice anemone. Like Leonard said, it looks like a H.crispa. He should also be right about the darkening/beiging of the anemone over time(as long as you are feeding and giving adequate light).
