Who's got a big one?

I got 2, 6" gigas clams almost exactly 4 weeks ago. They have already each added about 1/4" of shell!! Should I expect this rate of growth to continue? Those of you with large gigas clams, do they continue growing that quickly when they get larger? (?Minh)

If you continue to keep your Ca and Alkalinity up, they can grow this fast for at least 4 years. That is how fast my clam grow now. He is about shy of 20 inches. This is afte one full year of being sick with no shell growth at all for about 1 year. I got him 5 years ago today when he was less than 2 inches in lenght.
They are very majestic and beautiful animal IMO.

If mine continue to grow this fast, I will need to re-arrange my rock formation to accomodate them within a year or two. I may need to turn one of them into ceviche at some point - I will invite you for a taste.

I need to re arrange my tank in a few days because my Gigas is getting too big for the space. He is getting irritated by the H. magnifica and his mantle cannot fully open because it is touching the rock in the back and the glass in the front. I need to remove all the rock in the center portion of my tank to accommodate him.
