:?: UV filters...good or bad?

I have heard a few good and bad things about UV filters. I have one and now I am questioning it...it is a good thing to have?

Mark.. I have one on my reef and use it for a 2 week period whenever introducing new specimines into the tank. Otherwise it's bypassed and turned off. Remember that as soon as you fire the bulb you'll still need to replace it every 12 months, you don't save on it's life by using it for short amounts of time.

If you have a FO system then leave it on all the time.
