About 2 weeks ago i added a blue linkia to my tank. I drip acclimated him for around 9 hours. After I put him in, he went somewhere behind my rocks and I havent seen him since. Is this normal or should I be seeing him more? thanks!
i dont know if it is normal but i had a linkia that i thought died long time ago but when i did moved some rocks out to prepapre for my new tank i found it under the rocks still alive. i think they feed on detritus. i have also seen them out in the open in other tanks so i dont know if ours are shy or something i am impressed, 9 hour acclimation! i need to learn some more patience.
My burgundy linckia will stay in the same spot for days sometimes not moving, then in the span of 15 minutes I find it on the other side of the tank. Not sure if yours has died or not but I hope you find him ok.
I don't believe it's that unusual. Often I won't see my blue for days.
I congratulate you on your 9 hour acclimation...that's the way to do it. Thumbs up to you! Now the bad news: if often takes up to a month or longer before a blue starts to show the effects of poor acclimation. So while your acclimation was excellent, perhaps your LFS's acclimation was crap. Please believe me when I say that I'm not trying to bring you down with this news...but I thought you should know.
My blue is much more active at night...you may want to consider taking a look for him before the lights go on in the morning. Good luck, and please keep us posted!
As long as it was a healthy star to begin with, probaly nothing to worry about.
I drip aclimated mine for 4hrs and didn't see it for 3 weeks. I have had mine for 1.5yrs and mostly see it at night and early morning. I also read that juveniles hide more, not sure how much truth to that, but mine does come out more during lights on than a year ago.
