I have a bit of aiptasia in my 38G and I would like to add a herd of peppermint shrimp to rid the tank of these pests.

I have a mean orchid dottyback in that tank. I am afraid that the dottyback will eat them.

Anyone have this combo before?

Dotties are carnivores I have a bi color that when not kept happy with a meal will go on the prowl. I have some empty shells and a few loose claws for proof.

I have a pair of orchids in a 40 gallon with a small coral banded and an emerald crab, FWIW, and they haven't touched them. Just get large peppermints, but it probably won't even be necessary. Orchids are usually incredibly peaceful.

It's P. fridmani, right Louey? Did you ever consider getting a pair? They can be sexed really easily. The male's caudal fin is asymmetrical. It has a small "streamer" at the bottom of it, while the female's caudal fin is more rounded and completely symmetrical.

Thanks for that tip Matt.

Has anybody kept a P. fridmani with a Royal Gramma?

Louey, just curious, is he captive bred? Please define mean. Thanks.

Thanks for the replys guys! :)

Matt, it is definately a P. Frimani and not a P. Porphyreus. It has the distinct strip through the eyes and purple fins, not clear.

The fish is kind of skittish, so I'll have to keep trying to get a good look at the caudal fin. I would love to have a pair. That would be awesome. Anyone rearing P. Fridmani's?

ORA rears them. If your LFS gets CR clowns from them, they can easily get orchids as well, and you can special request a specific sex if you like.
