Hey everyone I added my Calcium Reactor back on my 72 gal reef tank. That is a reef tank without the Coral's. If you don't remember all my coral that I had for 3 yr died. Well anyways My Calcium level is @ 800 ppm. Is that going to have a affect on anything. I did just added 5 Corals that i had saved. Well that affect them, or will they just suck it up.

Any advise is welcome as long as it is the right advise. HEHE.

Thanks

I overdosed Kalk and got similar readings on my Salifert test kit,, though it's probably not very accurate above 500ppm. I was expecting a PH spike but it never happened.

My Green star polyps retracted for about 10 days and I had a (probably entirely unrelated) explosion in Spaghetti-worm population but the SPS's (Acros, Monti's and Merulina) and zoos didn't seem affected. If anything,, the menulina grew more than usual.

I did about 5 or 6 10% water changes over a couple of weeks but the levels didn't come down at all,,,, took another month or so before they came down below 400 and I had to dose kalk again.

All that aside,,, a few small water changes might be worth the effort,, sounds like you have a deep emotional attachment to these 5 corals :)

What's your alk at? With ca that high alk is going to be really low.

Be carefull bringing it back up, or you'll snowstorm the calcium, and that is NOT Fun scraping off the glass, when it precipitates out, it sticks to the glass like paint, it's a total pita to get off
