Hey guys,

I'm cutting out a center brace and bracing the sides today and wondered what kinda stickum I should use?

Will standard 5min epoxy withstand the moisture and salt? Is there a marine epoxy that is readily available?

What do ya think :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

Are you still going with a dual-halide canopy? I think the center brace would only cast a noticeable shadow if you were using one bulb,,, with two bulbs I think it wouldn't be so bad.

Have you tested it with the halides yet? Cutting the brace sounds like an unnecessary risk to me.

<-- going witha pendant... 1 x 250w for my 37 g tank....so... I have to remove the brace.

It shouldn't be too risky... I have some clamps that will be more of a sure thing than the actual brace while the glue dries.

Because of the pendant the plexiglass shouldn't be exposed to enough heat to warp it.

OK,,, you're going to glue the new pieces,, let them cure,,,, *then* remove the brace right? :)

Is the tank empty?

haha nope.. tank isnt empty.. no way.. can't happen that way.. The new pieces will cure while the clamps are on the tank... shouldn't be a problem. In the end it will be braced VERY similar to the way a lot of acrylic tanks are braced.

OK new direction in the bracing. I'm going to leave half inch of the origional brace on both sides.. and use nylon bolts to bolt the plexiglass to that... should be fine after that :) and a bit stronger at that.
