garden hose?

could I use a piece of garden hose in my reef without hurting it? Is there anything the hose will give off to cause trouble. I was thinking about using a small potion and putting holes in it. Attach it to my ph and place it along the back of tank so it would send current along the entire back at the bottom to keep from getting dead spots.

Any concerns with that?????

i doubt it would leach anything but why risk it?

next time oyu are at the hardware store get some of that clear vinyl tubing. it is really cheap and would look better.

you could also use pvc. . . probably much easier to drill holes into then vinyl. i run a portion of my sump return that way. it goes down the left side of the tank and then runs the entire length of the tank behind the live rock. i punched holes in it in every direction. works really well considering how i needed some way to restrict my pump - i have a cap on the end - which you will need to do otherwise the water will just go out the end (path of least resistance). the best part is you can buy ~20 ft of the stuff for around $3 at lowes!

garden hose usually is not certified for potable water (look for NSF cert. in hose if you plan to drink from it in the garden), and I would not use it for my tank. Get NSF hose, or any of the plastic tubing available for potable water.

Most garden hoses are treated with anti-mildew stuff so would'nt work.

RV warehouse places sell potable water hoses. I have some hooked to my back-up return pump. Make sure it has plastic fittings.
