Ok, got a TERRIBLY noisy Cascade 150. I dismantled it and the pump seems really clean, but the impeller doesn't slide smoothly...sorta gritty. Tried cleaning as well as I could, but when it's hooked up it growls like mad. Turning down the flow doesn't help either....if I pull it up just a bit, it will get quieter for a short bit, but soon enough it's noisy again.

Anyone know where I can get an impeller for this? Or should I just junk this filter entirely. It's the only water movment in my 15H that I have my Damsel in (the one w/one eye...she's only fish in there..1 turbo and 1 hermit)

Thx.

Anyone who sells PennPlax should be able to get you a replacement part. Or contact [email protected] directly. They might give you a few replacement.

I use Aquaclear hang-on filters and they keep quiet. I've had good luck with Whisper hang-ons and Penguins as well. If there's nothing stuck in the impeller, it might be misaligned or catching bubbles.

I thought it might be bubbles as well. Seems to be crud on the impeller shaft though. I may just scrap the whole dang thing and get a different brand. I like the way the filter media fits, but the BioFalls crap is just that...crap. Does nothing but build up huge amts of detritus if it isn't cleaned regularly..and weird shape makes it hard to clean. I've run it w/o that piece and water is too turbulent. Stirs up the sand all the way to the bottom of my 15gal.

Thanks for the addy though. I'll see about contacting em.
