Power Outage

I just set up my 75gal/30gal sump tank.
Now I'm starting to think about what happens when my power goes out. What do you use for backup power?

Is there a UPS that you can recommend? I'm NOT familiar with what is available.

Alistair,
Go to Wal-Mart, HD, Sears, whereever and pick up a Power Inverter. I have one that is capable of handling 750w. It has three outlets on it. It requires a marine/car battery to power it. Marine is better, it has a deeper charge.

The marine battery is 12v DC. You will connect the power inverter to it (cables will be included) and then you plug in your heater, powerhead or two and you're set to go. Should keep you for a few hours.

If it goes longer than that, you might have to run your car and hook the inverter up to that until you can recharge the marine battery.

Either way, that's the least expensive, effective way to do it.

Marine batt and a PI are a great option buy what are you going to do if you're not home? I would go with a big enough UPS to power your sump pump/filter and your heater for at least 2 hours. Keep the marine batt and PI close so you can hook it up when you get home.

If I'm buying a large UPS and marine battery/ invertor I may aswell buy a generator.

Okay, whats the deal with this venting fumes? I would like to get an inverter/charger because they are always hooked up, handle brown outs, can provide a lot of power and if need be you can just change the battery. But since it will be in my bedroom I don't want to die.

best bet is a genertor. Up north here most if not all have septic tanks and wells.
with out power no running water, no injection pumps. automatic generators that run on natural or propane are the way to go!
it's a neccessity living up in the mountians
