Sting why not share the biolad between the H&S and a deltec?

one set to skim to wet and on dry, you get the benefits from both. I think thats how im would do it, my thinking is if one, for some reason, goes out of comission you have the other so your not freaking out and can skim until the other unit comes back online.

gist: dont put all your eggs in one basket type thing

otherwise I would just get the BK as you get less energy consumption and you get to say, " ive got a BK on my tank" got to admit its like sex appeal :D

LOL!!

I didnt mean to break the bank like that!:D

Im actually saving money in my way, he keeps the H&S he already has and only adds a deltec that costs about a $1000 range (since theres a second skimmer already) and he saves $1000 he would spend on buying one big skimmer, get it?

then he can paypal me the $1000 in staggering appreciation ;)

But hey if youve got the cash, get both the deltec and the BK, that works too :)

Just went through a couple of threads regarding both skimmers. The way I see it is that both are awesome skimmers.

But in the end, I would go with the deltec simply for the reason that you have spare parts on hand in the country in case you need it. It seems that BK customers have to wait a long time for spare parts to come in. I personally would not be happy going without a skimmer for that long. In the BK if the RD pump malfunctions youre screwed. Most places dont have them in stock in the US.

As far as the electricity usage goes, i would say it should not be an issue seeing what the skimmers cost. So the deltec will cost you a couple of beers more per year.

i think my choice might come down to service. there is a definite appeal to the bk because it only use 45watts, but if this thing breaks down i'll really be screwed... i really appreciate everyone?s help. hopefully you'll see a new skimmer on this thread soon!
