How about keeping customer service and parts availability in mind. I think in that case you are better off with the deltec. (Let's not forget the self-cleaning head option). Granted the BK is one awesome skimmer but either of those are such top grade over so many other brands. Is the BK really that much better? I want to see reviews etc. I think when yo get into these elite skimmer comparisons you start to split hairs IMHO. I just don't see how you can go wrong with either. Unless you want to go for the wow factor of the BK

BTW what happens on a BK if any crud gets below the diffuser plate? I have heard/read that it can't be removed.

HA HA I'm the one that got the used 702 :D

not really too hard,
a small powerhead will do the trick, to dislodge anything that fell below the plate.

Steve, FWIW, I talked to moonpod (kasei' good pal :)) a while back about these two skimmer since he have used both. The recommendation was for BK if you are not interested in a self cleaning option, BK uses less power and do the job slightly better.

I second Jung?s suggestion buy both so we can see first hand which one is better.
